He perceives messages within its swirling, chaotic core, interpreting them as divine guidance. His once routine life is now punctuated by these intense, almost mystical experiences. He feels chosen, set apart for a purpose he cannot yet fully understand. The townspeople, however, are skeptical. They see only a man growing increasingly obsessed and erratic.
